Tristan Goodall
Tristan Goodall, founding member and guitarist of Australian roots group The Audreys, has died. He was 48 years old.A representative for the band has confirmed to Double J that Goodall passed away peacefully on Saturday 2 July (2022) surrounded by family. No cause of death has been reported. Goodall left the band in 2020 due to health issues."I am very sad to have to pass on the news that, despite our best hopes for his recovery, we lost our dear Tristan on the weekend," The Audreys singer and co-founder Taasha Coates wrote."I have talked to so many people in the last few days who knew Tristan, and the outpouring of love has been overwhelming. He touched so many of us with his beautiful music, his big heart, his big hugs and his big goofy laugh."Goodall, who had played in Adelaide band The Milk through the early/mid 1990s, and Coates formed The Audreys in 2004.

‘Til My Tears Roll Away (2014) sees The Audreys once again join forces with producer Shane O’Mara, who has worked on each of the band’s previous ARIA Award-winning albums; ‘Between Last Night And Us’ (2006), ‘When The Flood Comes’ (2008) and ‘Sometimes The Stars’ (2010).The bulk of the album was recorded over a few days at Adelaide’s Mixmasters studio on an old SSL desk that classic bands like INXS and Midnight Oil recorded with back in the day. The result is a stunning collection of songs. With front-woman Taasha Coates on vocals and keys, Tristan Goodall on guitars and their regular band filling out the line-up, this is earthier and grittier than the band’s previous releases, covering themes of heartbreak and hope without wandering too far from the gutter.Having achieved 3 x ARIA Awards in the Best Blues & Roots category, along with an ARIA Top 20 album debut for 2008’s ‘When The Flood Comes’, a nod in that year’s Rolling Stone Top 50 Albums of the Year, along with multiple international tours, a performance at SXSW in Austin, Texas and an appearance at last year’s BigSound music conference, The Audreys are without doubt one of Australia’s most accomplished folk-rock outfits. - ABC Music

History
2006-Present
Live favourites and multiple ARIA award winners The Audreys have graced almost every major festival in Australia and played more gigs than they can count. They’ve rocked festivals and clubs in Europe and North America, sold songs to films and tv shows far and wide, written music for live theatre, won awards, hit the charts, gone gold and pawned their very hearts for rock and roll.Launching in 2006 with Triple J faves “You and Steve McQueen”, “Oh Honey’ and “Banjo & Violin” from their debut album, The Audreys now have five albums worth of songs to choose from and just as many hilarious anecdotes. Predominantly playing as a duo in recent years, Taasha Coates & Tristan Goodall have a chemistry like no other, and every show will bring you from laughter to tears and all the way back again.Pictured (L - R): Toby Lang (drums), Lyndon Gray (bass), Taasha Coates (vocals, ukulele, harmonica, melodica, guitar, keys), Tristan Goodall (guitars, banjo), Mikey G (violin, vocals).
