OK, OK, we promise to stop turning up to barbecues with our ARIA trophies…

Special thanks to our friends who have been very tolerant of our outrageous behaviour and girly giggling ever since that one big night in October.

The Audreys have been back home getting a little rest and picking away at that songwriting business. It’s a brief spell before a sold-out show at the Spiegeltent in Melbourne, Saturday December 16, and a few post-Christmas festivals. Those of you going to Falls Festival (VIC & TAS), Southbound Festival (WA) or Woodford Folk Festival (QLD) will know what we’re talking about.

Three cheers to the people at dB Magazine in Adelaide, who last week hosted a night celebrating local music – namely, the dB Reader’s Awards. The public (maybe even you?) voted The Audreys ‘Best Band, 2006’. Thanks for your support, friends.

Have a great Christmas, folks. Don’t drink the punch if it looks a funny colour. Don’t take glassware into the Jacuzzi. Don’t forget to buy The Audreys CD for your sister.

See you at the bar.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! Thank you everyone, from the very very bottom of our overwhelmed, disbelieving, hungover hearts. To Bernard Fanning, Xavier Rudd, The Flood and Lior, we were honoured just to be in such amazing company.

Special thanks to our family and loved ones for their support and for putting up with us never being home. To our manager Alistair and our agent Geoff. To Clive, Karen, Sara, Eloise and everyone at ABC. To the wonderful Anouk and Tim from Warner. To Shane O'Mara and Rebecca Barnard. To Cam we miss you, Danika, Rob and Dave we thank you and Brett what would we do without you. And to everyone who's sent us their congratulations over the last few days and everyone who's been listening. We love you and thank you thank you thank you.

We would have said all of this if we hadn't been so delirious, really!

16th October, 2006

Oops nearly forgot! Taasha and Tristan's acoustic covers from the last few weeks of the tour as follows.

In Queensland we did "Fake Plastic Trees" by Radiohead and in Byron Bay "Time (The Revelator)" by Gillian Welch. In Sydney we did "Pony" by Tom Waits and "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones, the song Taasha sang on Rockwiz. Up in Gosford we did "I Drink", written by Mary Gauthier but introduced to us by Bill Chambers up at Gympie Muster the previous weekend, and down south we did "The Ship Song" by Nick Cave and "Only You", a great little slice of 80s joy by Yazoo.

In Tassie we did "Stormy Blues", a great old blues tune written by Billie Holiday, "Cycles" as sung by Frank Sinatra (yeah yeah, we know...) and "Sweet Jane" by Lou Reed.

Adelaide people can pop along to The Wheatsheaf on Saturday, December 9th to hear Taasha and Tristan do all 27 covers in one night. Yep, we're not kidding! Go to the tour page for more details.

26th September, 2006

Having played some 30-odd dates in almost every corner of the country (sorry N.T.) The Audreys have finally settled back in Adelaide, to polish the Texas boots, and wash the second hand suits.

The band wound up this tumbleweed tour of Oz with three great gigs in Tasmania. A packed house at the Republic was a definite highlight, and you Tassie folk are a darn friendly mob. Sorry to anyone who tried to get tickets to the Batman Fawkner Hotel - honestly, the venue didn't honour our booking and we were all left high'n'dry. Don't be angry with us now, ya hear?

No rest tho'. Things kick off again in October, with gigs in Sydney and Brisbane, and festivals in Gosford and Narooma. Check the gig guide for more details.

Late breaking news...The Audreys have been nominated for an ARIA award! The category? 'Best Blues & Roots Album'. The group is mighty chuffed at being listed alongside Bernard Fanning, Lior, The Flood and Xavier Rudd. Unfortunately there's nothing you at home can do to help the band win on the night, but if you'd like to check out the ARIA website, here ya go... http://www.ariaawards.com.au/winners-nominees-2006.php.

Thanks to all of you who made it to an Audreys gig last month. The tour was a huge success. We love you, we really do!

22nd August, 2006

Thanks Perth, we had great time! For those of you keeping track, Taasha and Tristan's covers were "Old Fashioned Morphine" by Jolie Holland, "Tougher Than The Rest" by Bruce Springsteen, "Fallen Star" by The Yearlings of course (poor Bob had lost her voice that night), "House of the Rising Sun" an old American traditional song, and "All Apologies" by Nirvana.

Back home in Adelaide at The Gov we did "In Between Days" by The Cure, and at the very lovely Clarendon Guest House in the Blue Mountains we did "I'm on Fire", another Springsteen song.

Ok, so what gets The Audreys out of bed at 5am on a Monday morning? Why the Today show of course! Luckily the folks were very friendly and supplied lots of coffee, and if you missed us, tune in to Mornings with Kerri Ann next Wednesday the 30th for a repeat performance. Yes yes, we'll say hi for you.

Hi friends,

We had such a lovely time in Victoria, thanks to all our lovely audiences. We're about to head of to WA for a run of dates and we can't wait!

Taasha and Tristan's acoustic covers in week two were "Drunken Angel" by Lucinda Williams, "Careless" by Paul Kelly, "Outdoor Type" by Evan Dando, and "If I Needed You" by Townes Van Zandt. In week three they did "Someday I'll Get Over You" by Dolly Parton, "Blue Moon Revisted (A Song for Elvis)" by Cowboy Junkies and "Boulder to Birmingham", Emmylou Harris. Nice.

Hey, did any of you catch Taasha on Rockwiz on SBS, Saturday night? Sure she didn't win, but she sure had a lot of fun. Here's a pic of Taasha and Gareth Liddiard from The Drones. They sang "Wild Horses" by The Stones.

See you at the bar,
The Audreys

Well week one of our Australia Tour has come to an end. Thanks to everyone who came out and made the first week such a lot of fun.

At every gig Taasha and Tristan are doing an acoustic cover, something from the old days before they started writing their own stuff and started The Audreys. A different one at every show too, that's 28 songs ... phew! This week people heard "Hurricane" by Neil Young, "Hickory Wind" by Gram Parsons and "50 ways to leave your lover" by Paul Simon. What else is happening this week?

1. Taasha and Mikey chat with Caroline Tran on Home & Hosed on Wednesday the 25th.
2. We'll be at Basement Discs on Thursday for an in-store performance at 12.45pm.
3. Tune in to "9am" on Friday morning on Channel 10 with James Reyne.
4. We're playing 3 tracks live on Radio National's In The Deep End this Friday afternoon.
5. We're making our way all around Victoria, playing at The Limelight Lounge, The Peninsula Lounge, Ruby's and Meeniyan Hall.

Lovely!
The Audreys

13th July, 2006

Well folks, we made it back to our fine shores mostly intact and more than ready to hit the road again. We've transferred our suitcases from the plane to the Tarago and our touring buddies The Yearlings have packed their wagon. So it's off again! Our winter tour kicks off with two gigs at Melbourne's Northcote Social Club. From there it's up to Canberra and then ... oh just check the tour page.

And if you're wondering just what sort of trouble we got up to in just over two months o/s and you're desperate to discover:
1. Just how fast Tristan can drive a six-metre splitter bus to make a gig on time,
2. Just how well Taasha can speak French after an evening drinking red wine,
3. If there really is enough jazz in New York City for Mr Lyndon Gray, and
4. If Mikey G can really explain what a Texan bullrider has to do with Australia Week in Moscow
...then you'll just have to get down to an Audreys gig near you to find the answers to these and many other exotic and exciting questions.

If we're not making it out your way but you'd love to see us, let us know and we'll try to make it next time we promise.

See you at the bar,
The Audreys xx

Howdy friends near and far,

Well us Audreys are holing up in London at the moment having just stepped off the plane from Moscow, and what a crazy ride this tour has been so far. In the last few weeks we've played in England, Scotland, Wales, Belgium, France and Russia. We've driven on the wrong side of the road, eaten the wrong food, come out at the wrong underground station, and almost been wrongfully arrested ... we're so rock!

So what's in store now? Well we're off to New York for some down time, then on to some exciting festival and club dates in Canada. All the details are on the gig guide page of course, and we promise to notify you of any and all bear sightings (we didn't spot any in Russia, despite hanging out with circus performers all week).

We're adding loads of tour photos and diary entries to our myspace page: www.myspace.com/theaudreysband as we go so keep an eye out.

See you in a tavern somewhere soon,
The Audreys xx

May, 2006

The Audreys have made the great leap across the choppy seas ... a string of gigs across Europe begins here in the beautiful English coastal city of Brighton. Egg and beans for breakfast by the seaside, a stroll along the Palace Pier to the famous Helter Skelter (cue The Beatles) and a warm ale at the Cricketer's Arms helped alleviate the jetlag on day one.

And The Spiegeltents are here, which makes things feel so strangely familiar - did y'all see The Audreys play The Spiegeletent in Adelaide? Sure was fun. Any of you in the vicinity should come say hi and be part of the audience at The Spiegeltent, Brighton, from 7pm, Sunday.

Don't forget to check the gig guide regularly for the latest live dates in England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Russia and Canada (phew!), and visit the gallery for holiday snaps over the next few weeks.

See you on the pier,
The Audreys xx

April, 2006

This Audreys update comes to you from the road as we hit some festivals and clubs on the East Coast with some new-timey madness. Look out for The Audreys' fun bus as we bounce our way from Adelaide to Byron Bay for the East Coast Blues Fest and back again.

Hey, any of y'all catch our folked-out rendition of Ratcat's early nineties classic "That Ain't Bad" on Triple J's Like A Version segment? If not, it's appearing regularly in our set now if you're coming to a show, so no one has to miss out. And in the world of TV, keep an eye out for Taasha going head-to-head with Gareth from The Drones on SBS's Rockwiz on Saturday nights. We ain't telling you who won, you'll just have to watch...

Thanks for all your lovely messages on the guestbook folks, we absolutley PROMISE to come to Canberra, Perth, Tasmania, the Central Coast and everywhere in between real soon...

March, 2006

Yes, it's been a long time in the making, but our album "Between Last Night and Us" will finally be released to record stores this month. We've made a video for our first single 'Oh Honey' so keep an eye out for it on the box, and be sure and request it at your favourite radio station while you're here. Oh go on....

We're having an album release party at The Famous Spiegeltent in Adelaide on February 22nd as part of the Adelaide Fringe. We will have just flown in from Texas! Show starts at 6.30pm, secure your tickets at FringeTIX ... go to the gigs page for more details. Oh yeah, it's going to be BIG!

January, 2006

Well it was hot and dusty up in Woodford, but we played some fun sets, met some great people and drank some mighty cold beer. Mmmm. Thanks to all our lovely supporters up there!

Later this month we'll be playing at the wonderful Harvest Festival on the Mornington Peninsula in a great line-up that includes Willard Grant Conspiracy, Tim Rogers, Suzannah Espie, Lisa Miller, Stephen Cummings and lots more ... then we're back to Adelaide for the always fun Shamworth at The Grace the night before Australia Day. On Australia Day itself we're at the Wheatsheaf for an afternoon show, then we're off to Sydney to play our first ever gig at The Basement. Oo la la! Check the gigs page for all the details.

It's official ... our album is being released on February 17th, and keep an eye and ear out for the single and video for Oh Honey real soon.

Thanks for visiting, and check out our new guestbook while you're here.
